BUPA London 10,000

We both ran the BUPA London 10k for Guide Dogs for the Blind on Monday 25th May 2009, raising £110 for Guide Dogs. Thanks so much to our sponsors.

Our times were: Robin 59:54 and Leah 01:01:23 (damn those extra 84 seconds!)

We got to run part of the proposed 2012 Olympic marathon course through a route which took in several famous Londons sights including Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, St.Paul's Cathedral and most importantly the film set for Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter movies.

We also had a great day out with Robin's parents who kindly agreed to babysit for Charlotte while we ran. Charlotte saw us off at the start and very much enjoyed meeting the Guide dogs and puppies. Photos of this are now on the Guide Dogs BUPA London 10,000 Flickr photostream (which makes it the second time this week that our family has appeared in a dog-related charity Flickr album - Skye having won the national Dogs Trust Honours 09 Rex Factor Award for her footballing skills, which was presented to her by Camilla Dallerup at the Hurlingham Club on Tuesday 19th May).

We have already added our photos of the race to Facebook and will get around to adding them to our April-May 09 Flickr album http://www.flickr.com/photos/thedarbyshires/sets/72157616592837806/
very shortly....

We are looking forward to hopefully running next year's 10k. In the meantime, Leah is training for a 1/2 marathon for the Child Bereavement Charity in October.
